Folks, whatabout this weather?  Seems a tornado has touched down in the south.  about once a week killing scores of people.  I don't remember this many tornadoes before.  Does this have anything to do with the signs of the times???
I met another interesting couple at the Country Treasurs Shoppe last week.  Sharon grew up in New York but her husband who grew up in Florida wanted to move back to Florida.  So Sharon relented and they moved to Florida in 1967.  After having seven children, they agreed to compromise  on thier next location so they moved to Smithville in1980 and love it.
She inquired about a Bethel House in this area.  I never heard of it but I plan to check with Tommy Webb, the county historian, about it.
My longtime friend, Delma VanHooser Murphy, survived her major surgery last week.  Her cousin, Lillie Vaughn, drove down  to Atlanta  to be with her during the surgery. Delma's parents and mine were good friends so naturally, we became good friends.  Her dad was a good country doctor and her mother was a nurse so many times I woke up and Delma would be in bed with me.  They had gone out on a home visit and dropped Delma off at our house. We lived just around the corner from the clinic and their home.
Also get well wishes to Phyllis Redmon Bennett in Cookeville.
Phyllis, Director of UCHRA, is a sister to Fay Fuqua.
Hope everyone got their income taxes in on time.
Notices have gone out to the ministers in this county concerning the need for volunteers for Habitat.  Two homes have been built and a third one is in the planning. Volunteers are needed to drive a nail, paint, or any manual labor plus the ladies can feed lunch to the volunteers.  If you can help. contact Sharon Evans at Evins Lodge or Gayla Hendrix, chm. of Church and Community Committee.
Congratulations to Martha Webb, lovely daughter of Alan and Lora Webb.  she was named DCHS Most Valuable Player and has recently won a scholarship at Maryville College to play basketball.
My birthday was celebrated  again last Saturday when my step granddaughter, Amanda, and Seth and toddler Lucas from West Virginia, met me at O'Charley's in Cookeville for a birthday lunch..
This was my second time to see cute little Lucas but we bonded right away.  I gave him an Easter bag full of goodies.  Another treasured  birthday gift I received from my one and only nephew, Robin, was the book, HEAVEN IS FOR REAL.  This little boy was featured on a morning show recently of his experience with heaven.  Amazing what he tells! But the best part of my birthday was the 16 birthday cards I received.
Now, I can confirm I have at least 16 friends. Aha!
The Country Treasures Shoppe on W. Walnut Street, is featuring the most amazing things that these consignors have brought in. We have 2 lovely Japanese maple trees(ready to plant), a trampoline,
antique furniture, windchimes and Easter baskets and gifts.  Open Thur.-Saturday., 10-4 p.m.
Now all those people who sacrificed something during Lent, the countdown is on until Easter which is this coming Sunday.  Be sure and go to church Sunday for this occasion.  First Methodist Church hosted their annual egg hunt at the home of Amanda and Keith Blair last Sunday.  They have a beautiful, huge lawn and colored eggs were everywhere.
Also no school and no Head Start classes on Friday due to it being Good Friday.
Take care and have a blessed Easter!
