Today and tonight we should be getting some much-needed rain. One more day left for the month of January this year. Seems like the month has flown by. Since I can't seem to stick to my New Year's resolutions, I didn't make any. If I can be a better servant for Jesus than I have been in the past that will be what I will strive to do.
It's been pretty tranquil around here as of late. Everyone going about their daily routine and getting back into the swing of things after that frigid cold weather and snowfall we had to endure. That was a nightmare that does not need to be repeated. The weather is certainly warmer now and temps above what they should be for this time of year. Take advantage of this nice weather as we know it's bound to change.
Since egg prices are out of sight, I have a trivia question for you. What feathered farm animal is celebrated in an annual parade in Wayne, Nebraska? Answer: chickens, the chicken show each July includes omelet cook-offs, egg games, a chicken art show, and a chicken parade. I wonder what, if any, effect the high cost of eggs will do this event? Hopefully, nothing to spoil all the fun that will be had for the young and old alike.
An army helicopter and an American Airline Jetliner collided late Wednesday night killing all 67 people aboard the two aircrafts. This happened as the jet was approaching to land at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. The helicopter apparently flew into the path of the jet. Another tragedy also happened as a medical helicopter went down in Pennsylvania on Friday killing the six on board. No word yet as to what caused the crash. We need to keep the families in prayer that have lost loved ones in these tragedies. None of us know when a tragedy like these could happen to us. That is why it is so important to be prepared in case you pass away by accepting Jesus Christ into your life. He will save your soul. The peace inside He gives you is unexplainable. That fear you had carried of dying for so long won't matter anymore. You will know when you die here you will be living there in the presence of Jesus for eternity in
heaven. That is God's promise to us.
Rick and Beverly Hubler have been sick with the virus that is going around. Gracie Bratcher and Mai Nell Melton are doing fine. Got to talk with Ruth Brown and Ann Warren this week. Tracy Neal is getting better after having surgery. Keep Tracy and also Tony in your prayers. Burley Bogle has told me that Ronald Lawson is feeling better. As we all know, Ronald is quite a character, and we all think a lot of him here on the mountain.
People are starting to think about spring flowers and the planting season that is not that far off. Of course, we'll have on and off cold spells. I'm just hoping the worst of winter is over for
us. I've been noticing in some stores they are putting out plants and bulbs and getting ready for the beginning of spring which is on March 20th. I can only imagine how farmers are chomping at the bits to get out and till the soil. We depend on farmers to provide our food. I'm hoping they have a productive and prosperous season.
By now you know that groundhog, Punxesutawney Phil, saw his shadow and that means six more weeks of winter weather. I don't believe in anything that groundhog can supposedly predict. All I know is that they sure throw a wild party for him each year on February 2nd.
Please keep in prayer the following people: Dustin Johnson, Mary Melton, Diane Evans, Walter and Faye Ferrell, Rose Watts, the people of Israel and Ukraine, those people in California that have lost so much because of those wildfires, and the leaders of our country.
Have a great day...and a Happy Valentine's Day!!!
Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6, 7
