The grapevine continues
LeAnn Judkins 2025
We made it!  Another year older; another year wiser.  Welcome to 2025!  Another year …….is left to be determined.  Welcome back to Through the Grapevine, week number 2.

Feel better soon wishes:  Ralph Thomas, Danny Conger, Alan Webb, Debra Smith Black, Vicki Knowles Burton, George Sperry, Gail Webb, Larry Knowles, Bob Earl Fuson, Dr. David Darrah, Loyce Holcomb, Carl Lee Webb and Royce Odom.

Just curious:  Does being tired classify you as sick?  If so, there are hundreds of names that would make this list.  But I digress.

Just curious, #2:  Did you know that Jimmy Putty was going to be the next DeKalb County School’s winter weather prognosticator?  He’ll know if local schools are closed before the school’s management and the media will.

Belated congratulations:  My son, Jim Judkins, was named the City Judge for Woodbury in Cannon County, Tennessee in April, 2022.  Being proud of him and his accomplishments are an understatement.  Can’t help but wonder what his maternal grandfather, the late McAllen Foutch, would think about this honor.  He’d be overly proud and proud that he was an attorney.  Dad died before Jim began his legal career, and he was in law school when Mom died.  Woodbury is filled with antiquated memories of the later Mr. Jim Cummings, Dad’s cohort at the Tennessee Capitol throughout the 1950’s.  Just recently, Jim was gifted with a wooden table that belonged to Mr. Jim and Mrs. Calysta many years ago.

I miss you!  My best friend, Bertha McBride (Trump) now lives at NHC on Fisher Avenue in Smithville.  There is never a day that passes that I don’t laughingly remember our five-year shenanigans.   Our friendship evolved throughout time at the Webb House and she was a strong R (Republican) and I was a strong D (Democrat).  We made a vow many years ago that we would never discuss politics.  This we never did.  But we talked about everything else – locally, statewide, and nationally.  However, it’s a good thing that we’re both United Methodists!  No disagreements there.

Sympathies to the families of:  Betty Tittsworth Hale (Jerre), Ronald J. Carter, James Donald Lattimore, Jean Herman, Jason Ray Sifford, Judy Pollard, James Cooper, Jimmy Walker and Betty Ann Walker.

Condolences:  To the friends, family and admirers of former United States President, James Earl “Jimmy” Carter, who died on December 29, 2024 at the age of 100 years.  He is to be buried next to his wife, Roselyn, in a family cemetery in his hometown, Plains, Georgia.   He was the president when Jim was born.  He named him “Dimmy Copper.”

Stumped?  The words “grey and gray” mean the same thing and can be used in sentences spelled either way.

Weekly Lucy update:  If Lucy ever had an arm tattoo, it would be of “Road Runner,” because that’s the majority of her daily exercise.  Did you also know that she is an avid historical collector?  How many people still have their DCHS basketball letter sweater hanging in their closet?  (It’s been 50 years, Luchy).  “If you need it – she has it!!!

Angie’s Bible verse of the week: “Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God.  I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness (Isaiah 41:10).”

Thought for the week: “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.”  (McAllen Foutch).
