OH, HAPPY DAY: Entering week 5 of this special column. Hope you’re enjoying this tranquil and Spring-like weather. Most persons do. I don’t. I’m too much like my dad on this account. For us, “Let it snow-Let it snow-Let it snow!”
ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY:
Thursday, February 6: Elizabeth II ascends to the throne of England in 1952. She became the longest reigning monarch in British history,
Friday, February 7: The British rock band, The Beatles, landed for the first time in the United States in 1964. Charles Dickins was born in England in 1812.
Saturday, February 8: Mary, Queen of Scots, was beheaded in 1587. Actor James Dean was born in 1931.
Sunday, February 9: In 1757, Calcutta was restored to British Control. Princess Margaret died in London in 2002. She was the only sister of Queen Elizabeth.
Monday, February 10: In 1996, a chess champion beat a computer playing board. Olympic swimmer, Mark Spitz, was born in 1950.

ANGIE’S BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK: “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES:

Friday, February 7: My forever friends, Pamela Bowling Rhody of St. Augustine, Florida, along with Michiko Howard Martin of Family Medical Center in Smithville, TN.
Monday, February 10: Jill Goodwin Omer, who is a Speech and Language Specialist in Nashville, Tennessee.

A BIG DIFFERENCE: Between a nurse practioner, who is required to have two to four years of graduate college courses to earn their degree; a medical doctor is required to have an additional four years in an accredited medical school to earn the Doctor of Medicine Degree. This follows a four-year undergraduate degree. For specific specialties, more medical school training is required. Simply, a nurse practioner is not a doctor of medicine. They may have earned a PhD, which is the highest academic degree that can be earned. It stands for a “Doctor of Philosophy.” That’s all. Aren’t you glad I cleared that up. I certainly am. Today, an attorney must have a four-year undergraduate college degree, followed by four years of law school and then receiving a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens.” (Ecclesiastes 3)
IT ISN’T SO! The Tennessee Volunteer basketball team ranked number 9 in Sundays AP Top 25 in college basketball rankings. My team, the Vanderbilt Commodores, have beaten Tennessee and Kentucky already this year – and you guessed it – they’re not even ranked! John Sparkman was right!
UPCHUCKED! My little buddy, Jimmy Putty, hasn’t felt too swift this past week. He says he doesn’t know what it is. Personally, I think he’s been singing and being a weather forecaster for too long. Course it could be from hearing a nauseating multi-daily cattle call!
FEEL BETTER SOON WISHES: Demetria Finley, Larry Knowles, Ralph Thomas (my partner in crime), Debra Smith Black, Jerry N. Brown, Alan Webb, Cleveland Bain, and little Jax Grimes.
SPECIAL WISHES: To the many residents of NHC and the Webb House in Smithville, who are, or have been, affected by the fast-spreading and dangerous influenza (FLU) virus. Just finished an article about the seriousness of today’s flu. Should be printed within a few weeks. Here’s a hint: Did the flu vaccination work this year?
WEEKLY LUCY UPDATE: Don’t ever ask Lucy where a town/city is located in Tennessee. She won’t know and she will admit it. Add another marker in her “History for Dummies” book that was a serious gift from my son, Jim, recently. When discussing town locations, she had no clue where Greenville, Tennessee was located. Google it, Lucy. It’s probably located near Gatlinburg, Pennsylvania or Gettysburg, Tennessee. Maybe she needs to read, “Geography for Dummies.”
Until next week, be nice!
