Who will be the next Miss Jamboree? That question will be answered Saturday, June 22 as girls from one day old to 20 years old compete for the coveted title.

While called the Miss Jamboree Pageant, the event isn’t just for girls as there are classifications for boys up to two years of age.

The pageants begin at 11 a.m. this Saturday in the ballroom of the DeKalb County Complex. Deadline to enter has already passed so the field of competitors is set for the contests that will span throughout the afternoon.

Sponsored by the Smithville Business and Professional Women’s Club, the annual event offers numerous prizes for those in the competition. Along with the title of Miss Jamboree, titles also include Prettiest Eyes, Prettiest Hair, Prettiest Attire and Most Photogenic. You can also get involved in the judging as there will also be a People’s Choice winner in each classification. The People’s Choice Award winner will be the contestant who raises the most money in the People’s Choice box at the event.

Winners of categories 11 and up will get to participate in activities at the upcoming Smithville Fiddler’s Jamboree July 5-6 by making public appearances at the event.

Last year’s winner of the Miss Jamboree Pageant was Destiny Danielle Franklin, daughter of Jennifer and Charlie Ware.
