Funeral services for Bessie Lee Atnip, 93, of Smithville were held Sept. 26 at the chapel of Love Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Larry Green officiated with burial following at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Atnip passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24 at DeKalb Community Hospital in Smithville.
Mrs. Atnip was a retired secretary with various local business and affiliated with the Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Atnip was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ruby Clemmons Organ; one daughter Gayle King; two brothers, Wendell and Billy Organ; sister, Betty Jo Organ.
Mrs. Atnip is survived by two sons, Charles and (Betty) Atnip, and John (Betty Jean) Atnip of Smithville; one daughter, Phyllis and (Ronnie) Tramel of Smithville; special son-in-law, Richard and (Carla) King of Cookeville; eight grandchildren, Ricky and (Lisa) Atnip, John Atnip, Jr.,  Barry Atnip, Hunter Tramel, Leah and (Eric) Snow of Smithville, Dr. Cynthia King of Memphis, Eric and (Rebecca) King of Nashville, and Jake Tramel of Chattanooga. Several great grandchildren also survive.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
