Newby

Catherine Deloris Newby, age 74, of Smithville passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at NHC Healthcare in Smithville.

She was a lifelong resident and public servant of DeKalb County. Newby was retired from the DeKalb County Clerk's Office and the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Donnie Kelly officiated.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Linnie Reeder Summers; a son, Dennis Ellis; and two brothers, Junior Summers and Lairey Summers.

Survivors include a son, Shannon Newby of Smithville; granddaughters, Natasha and David Miller, Brandy Newby, and Shelley Newby all of Smithville; sisters, Helen and David Fox of Smithville and Dianne and Ricky Taylor of Murfreesboro; great grandchildren, Autumn Reinhart and Steven Miller of Smithville. Several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews also survive.

Serving as pallbearers were David Miller, Ronald Summers, Ricky Taylor and Steve Ward.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
