Charlotte Lockhart Barnard, age 82, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at NHC HealthCare in Smithville.
Charlotte was born March 6, 1942 in Smithville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Houston (Bud) and Frances (Snooks) Lockhart, sister, Shirley Lockhart Ingram, as well as her husband, Laird Barnard.
A lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Smithville, Charlotte was a teacher at DeKalb County Head Start for many years and spent most of her career working for DeKalb County Department of Children’s Services. She loved to garden, work in her yard, and absolutely loved all animals. Charlotte spent most of her retirement years joyfully spending time with her great grandchildren. She had an amazing upbeat attitude, something humorous to say, and always had a smile. One of her requests was that no sad music be played at her funeral service.
She is survived by her son, Robin (Kristie) Driver; daughter, Wendy Humphrey; grandsons, Derek Driver and Ashton Campbell; six great grandchildren, Ethan Absher, Eli Humphrey, Kiana, Taylan, Robert and Kiera Driver.
Funeral service was held Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. David Lunsford officiating and burial followed at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers included Derek Driver, Taylon Driver, Robert Driver, Ethan Absher, Eli Humphrey and Ashton Campbell.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
