Clay Melvin Byrd, 61, of Dowelltown, died Jan. 25. Funeral service were held Sunday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Kent Kesler Sr. officiating. Burial followed at Poplar Hill Cemetery in Wilson County, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Byrd is survived by his mother Gladys Alberta Adamson; daughter Melissa Dawn and her husband Karl Kesler of Murfreesboro; sons Clay Melvin Fann of Murfreesboro, Jerry Lee Fann and his wife Sandi of Mt. Juliet; daughter Clistina Suellen Simons of Smithville; two granddaughters Clarissa Claiborne and her husband Jeremey, and Katelin Spivey; a grandson Jamie Lee Fann; great-grandchildren Kristen and Aubree Claiborne; two sisters Toledo McCloud of Smithville, and Dean Yaney of Murfreesboro; two brothers Jerry Byrd, and Forrest Byrd, both of Smithville; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Melvin Byrd; his wife Linda Sue Turner; and a sister Vetrice Cook.
