Curtis Lee Rust, age 69, of Smithville passed away Saturday morning, August 31, 2024, at NHC HealthCare in Smithville. 

He was born June 28, 1955, to his parents, the late Curtis and Minnie Dorthy Ray Rust. 

He was retired from DeKalb Farmer's CO-OP and a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Vietnam.  Mr. Curt was a lifetime member of the AM Vets. 

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Rust of Smithville; daughters, Terese Pena of Russell Springs, KY and Sherri (Bobby) Prater of Cookeville; son, Ryan (Sasha) Rust of Arizona; grandchildren, Korrin Therrien, Sienna Prater and Elena Prater; brother, John (Kathy) Rust of Cookeville; sister, Paulette Jump of Michigan and several nieces, nephews loved ones and friends. 

Graveside service and interment was held Monday, September 9, 2024, at DeKalb Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. 

Pallbearers included Ryan Rust, Korrin Therrien, Jeff Heartless, Jeff Back, Dave McKale, and Brandon Adcock.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
