Danny Chester Knowles, age 68, went home to be with Jesus on March 30, 2022.

He was born on January 1, 1954 in McMinnville to Betty and the late Chester Knowles. He has resided in Moultrie, GA for the last 12 years. He was a very well-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle and friend.

Danny was a truck driver for most of his life. He loved being with his family and fishing. He also loved his Tennessee football. He was an avid hummingbird watcher and lover.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Knowles of Smithville.

He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Meatrice Gilley Knowles, formerly of Geneva, AL, and his mother, Betty Knowles of Shaliar, Fl. His children: Elizabeth Knowles of Honeoye Falls, NY and Zachary (Jonna) Knowles currently stationed with Submarine Group Ten at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in St. Mary’s, GA. He has three grandchildren: Johnathan “Trent” Dorough, Daniel Knowles, and Susanne Knowles. His sisters: Brenda (Royce) Whigham of Destin, Fl, and Joy (Bill) Dysart of Denver, CO; brother Jeff (Meredith) Knowles of Columbia, SC. There are also a large number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life was held Monday, April 4, 2022 in Moultrie, GA at “The Bricks” with the Pastor Michael Sanes officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Cemetery in Geneva, AL.

Serving as pallbearers were Trent Dorough ,Kyle Roney, Jeremy Thornton, Logan Tutor, Daniel Gilley, Blake Boles, Alex Knowles, Westin Jeffords and Nick Jeffords.
