Summers

David Summers, age 68, of Smithville, passed away Monday evening, June 25, 2018 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.

He attended the Experience in Murfreesboro, was a U.S. Navy Veteran, and was animal control with the City of Smithville. David coached Little League and Senior League Baseball and Jr. Pro Basketball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Elbridge and Annie Odell Pedigo Summers; granddaughter, Olivia Taylor; mother-in-law, Shirley Southard.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Monica Summers of Smithville; three children, Cindy (Ken) Taylor of Smithville, Travis (Ashley) Summers of Murfreesboro and Freddy Summers of Smithville; four grandchildren, Shauna, Abbi, and Kenlee Taylor and Devin Summers; two sisters, Barbara Summers of Gordonsville and Sue Petty of Smithville; one brother, Eddie (Jean) Summers of Watertown and several nephews and cousins.

The family has honored David's request to be cremated and a memorial service was held June 28, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Trent Colwell officiating.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
