Debra Elaine Carter, age 64 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday evening, July 2, 2019 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital in Smithville.
She was a member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church and a retired factory worker.
She was born July 5, 1954 to her parents, the late
William Everett and Jimmie Lou Montgomery Cantrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by siblings, Junior, Donald, Frank, Robert, Jerry and Harold Cantrell,
Virginia Ruth Mise and Wanda Fay Johnson and father-in-law, R.J. Carter.
Debra is survived by her husband, Ronald Jay Carter of
Smithville; son, Ronald Joshua Carter of Smithville; step-daughter, Jayme Lynn
(Nathan) Dowell of Smithville; grandchildren, Ryan Joshua Carter, Ethan Daniel
Carter, Isaiah Dowell and Kylynn Dowell; siblings, Carlene (Ricky) Brown of
Sparta, Diana (Jerome) Phifer of Texas, Barbara (Farrell) Henderson of Sparta
and Melvin (Mary) Cantrell of Clinton; mother-in-law, Rubbie Carter of
Smithville; sister-in-law, Lynn (Larry) Eaton of Smithville; special niece and
nephew, Austin Cantrell and Rhonda Cantrell and several other nieces and
nephews.
Funeral service was held Saturday, July 6, 2019 at DeKalb
Funeral Chapel with Bros. Garry Caplinger and Michael Hale officiating. Burial
followed in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Austin Cantrell, Nathan Dowell, Hugh
Jason, Ricky Lee, Lavadon Wiggins, and Micky Cantrell.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
