Don Carlos Ashburn, Jr, 87, of Smithville passed away Wednesday, July 11at his residence.

He was a farmer and a member of the Smithville Church of Christ and a veteran of the United States Navy having served in Korea.
Mr. Ashburn was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Carr and Don Carlos Ashburn, Sr. and granddaughter, Leslie Ashburn Houchin.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Reba Parsley Ashburn of Smithville; two sons, Ronald and Tammy Ashburn of Smithville, and Lyndon and Deborah Ashburn of Dowelltown; granddaughter, Stacy and Mark Winfree of Smithville; two great grandchildren, Rilee and Laina Winfree of Smithville; and one sister, Peggy Richardson of Tullahoma.

Funeral service was held Friday, July 13 at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Brother Dan Gulley will officiated and burial following in the Ponder-Burton Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Gentry Barnes, Bobby Poss, Mike Foster, Jerry and Mike Adcock, Mark Winfree, Hugh Washer and Scott Cripps.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home of Smithville was in charge of the arrangements.
