Mrs. Donna Jean Ward, age 83, of Smithville passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024 at her home. 

Mrs. Ward was born on April 19, 1941 in Cabin Creek, West Virginia to her parents, the late George and Kate Duncan Chaney. Also preceding in death is a sister, Janet Mounts and a brother-in-law, Don Mounts. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Temple Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, George Ward of Smithville; three sons,, George C. (Tammy) Ward of Lebanon, Gregory Lee Ward of Liberty and David Ward (Sherrie Bates) of Smithville; grandchildren, George Ryan Ward, Zach T. Ward, Jessica Cassillas, Evan Ward and Mikayla McDaniel; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Chaney of Shelbyville and Nancy (Willis) Jobe of Murfreesboro; brother, George (Lucy) Chaney of CA; special nephews, Tim Mullins and Darrell Adkins.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024 in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Gene Adkins officiated and burial followed at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. 

Pallbearers included ED Brock, JR Brock, Donnie Brock, Tim Mullins, Bobby Mullins and Willis Jobe.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
