Dorothy Jean Young, age 96, of Smithville passed away at Tuesday morning, August 13, 2024 at the Webb House in Smithville. 

Ms. Young was a faithful member of the Smithville Church of Christ and a homemaker.

She was born April 16, 1928, to her parents the late Harold Mason and Louvella Tittsworth.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Smoot Young, Sr.; sons, Billy Smoot "Bill" Young, Jr. and Joe Mason Young; sister, Bobbie Lynn Betty. 

She is survived by daughter, Laura Lynn (John) Carter of McMinnville; daughter-in-law, Joanie Young of McMinnville; grandchildren, Andrew (Trista) Carter, Caroline (Tyler) Cantrell, Matt (Brandi) Young, and Josh Young; great-grandchildren, Emberly and Ethan Carter, Carter, Parker, and Reese Cantrell, Destiny (Jesse) Hanley, Brianna Young, Kylie Young, Matt Young, Jr.; sister-in-law, Betty Sue Young.

Graveside service was held Thursday, August 15, 2024, at DeKalb Memorial Gardens, with Billy Willingham and Bro. Dan Gulley officiating. 

In addition to flowers donations may be made to either the Smithville Church of Christ or Day School or the American Heart Association. 

Pallbearers were Matt Young, Josh Young, Matt Young, Jr., Andrew Carter, Tyler Cantrell, and Jesse Hanley.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
