Funeral service for Dwight Cantrell, age 65, of Smithville was held December 11, 2017 at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Mike Carpenter officiated with burial following in Young Bend Cemetery.

Mr. Cantrell passed away December 8, 2017 at his residence. He was an US Army veteran, a Baptist and disabled.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Hampton Cantrell, Jr. and two brothers, Doug Johnson and Johnny Cantrell.

Survivors include a daughter, Alice and Michael Wills of Alexandria; three sons, Dwight David and Angela Cantrell of Alexandria, James Patrick and Catherine Cantrell of Brush Creek, and Daniel Johnson of Smithville; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; mother, Helen and Jewel Johnson of Smithville; four brothers, Dwayne Cantrell of Alexandria, Benny Cantrell, and Jeff Johnson and Terry Johnson, all of Smithville; seven sisters, Judy and Tony Watson, Nita and Joey Steakley, Tonya Menix, Deanna Brooks, Michelle Snipes, Tammy Cantrell, and Rebecca Cantrell.

Pallbearers included Steven Wills, Eric Cantrell, Austin Cantrell, Ethan Cantrell, Terry Lynn Johnson, Shane Young, Paige Cantrell and Daniel Johnson.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
