Funeral services for Eddie Jewell Adkins, 49, of Smithville were held July 16 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Ralph Benningfield and Bro. Lonnie Buser officiated with burial following in Whorton Springs Cemetery.

He passed away July 15 at DeKalb Community Hospital.

He was the son of the late Cecil and Elsie Goodwin Adkins.

He was a long time route salesman with Merita Bread and a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Karen Adkins of Smithviille; daughter, Amy (Mike) Gilpin of Smithville; granddaughter, Alyssa Gilpin of Smithville.

Pallbearers included; Mike Gilip, Billy Skelton, David Barnes, Paul Stouter, Lonnie Buser II, Terry Cassidy, George Story and Aaron Hayes.
