Eric Van Mathis, age 46, of Liberty passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020. He was a member of Cave Springs Missionary Baptist Church, 1991 graduate of DeKalb County High School, graduate of Tennessee Tech with a Bachelor’s Degree and worked in Accounting.
He was born June 5, 1973 to his parents, Van and Debbie Parsley Mathis.
Eric was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Delton and Nell Parsley and paternal grandparents, Guy and Thelma Mathis; uncle, Danny Parsley and aunt, Sharon Star Mathis.
He leaves to cherish his memory, parents, Van and Debbie Mathis of Liberty; sister, Pamela (Richard) Delay of Lebanon; niece and nephews, Chandler Shaw (Molly), Olivia Shaw and Ryker Delay; great-niece, Haven Shaw; aunts and uncles, Libby (Jerry) McCormick, Jeff (Michelle) Parsley, Patricia (Odie) Tallent and Guylene (Robert) Atnip all of Smithville; several cousins also survive.
Due to the COVID-19, the Governor strongly encouraging that the public component of funerals be postponed and only attended by close family members, social distancing requirements and public health safety, A Graveside Service was held Friday, May 15, 2020 at Sycamore Cemetery with Bro. Stephen Brooks officiating.
Pallbearers included Chris Griffith, Chris Tramel, Jeff Parsley, Chad Rosa, Jason Prather, and Chandler Shaw.
