George W. “Bill” Corley, Jr., age 96, of Alexandria passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Ascension St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville.
He was a Navy Veteran and one of the last WWII Veterans in the DeKalb County area. He was a former member of the Lions Club, former Alexandria City Alderman and former member of the Alexandria Industrial Board. Bill was a lifelong Insurance Agent starting with his father at George W. Corley and Sons Insurance Agency in Alexandria. Bill was a member of the Alexandria Church of Christ.
He was born April 29, 1927 in Alexandria to parents George W. and Mary Lester Corley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Lester Corley.
Bill is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sue Wilson Corley of Alexandria; children, William Micheal (Amy Puckett) Corley of McMinnville and Dr. Cris Gordon Corly of Lebanon; grandchildren, Peter K. (Kasie) Corlely of Post Falls, Idaho and Like C. Corley of McMinnville; and great-grandchildren, Henry and Evelyn.
Funeral service was held Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Alexandria Church of Christ. Bro. Jeff Ford officiated, and burial followed in Eastview Cemetery in Alexandria.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort, Inc.
Anderson Funeral Home, Alexandria, was in charge of the arrangements.
