Helen Gora Taylor, age 78, of Smithville passed away Thursday night, August 20, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro.
She was a member of the Covenant Baptist Church and worked at Texas Boot and Federal Mogul.
She was born April 7, 1942 to her parents, the late George Washington and Stella Lou Green Gora. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Taylor; two brothers, Hugo and Louis Gora; and sister, Amy Hartsell.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Keisha (Jeff) Norman of Murfreesboro; two grandchildren, Lesley Lane and Maximus Norman; three siblings, George "Buddy" (Judy) Gora of Crossville, Berta Merolli of Plum, PA and Barbara Carter of Irwin, PA; aunt, Janette Abernathy of Athens, AL; uncle, David (Shirley) Green of Athens, AL; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The family chose a direct cremation and a memorial service was held Monday, August 24, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Michael Hale officiating. Her cremains will be buried later with family in Athens, AL.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
