Funeral services for John Isabell Jr., 54, of Smithville were held July 21 at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Mike Carpenter officiated, with burial following at Mt. Holly Cemetery.

 

He passed away July 18 at his residence.

 

He was a Christian, a teacher with the DeKalb County School System. He taught school in both the DeKalb Middle and DeKalb County High School. He was the former President of DCEA, belonged to a Writers Group in Cookeville and was a member of the Jaycee’s.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Isabell Sr.; grandparents, Bessie and William Isabell and Ethel Hammons and father-in-law, Gordon Davis.

 

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Lorie Isabell of Smithville; mother, Cora (Grover) Tiptin of Indiana; brother, Jerry (Kim) Isabell of Ohio; two sisters, Pam Emmons of Indiana, and Teresa (Rich) Johns of Ohio; nieces and nephews, Stacey Emmons, Nick and Matt Johns, Haley Brown and Kyle and Kaleb Davis; mother-in-law, Diane Davis of Crossville; special friends, Tony and Melissa Roysdon of Smithville, Luke Bullock of Cookeville, Greg Pryor of Algood, Jim and Catherine Deppen of Nashville, Paul Johnson of Nashville, Mike Smith of Indiana, Tracy Nash of Seymour, Laura and Johnny Clemmons of Cookeville, Steve Killian of Georgia, and Mike Wilson of North Carolina; friends in the DeKalb County School System.

 

Pallbearers included; Jim Deppen, Greg Pryor, Luke Bullock, Mike Wilson, Jerry Isabell, Paul Johnson, Mike Smith, and Tracey Nash.
