Funeral services for James Alex Pedigo, 78, of Sparta were held Jan. 3 at Oaklawn Funeral Home. Bros. Elmore Judd and Doyle Crawford officiated with burial following at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mr. Pedigo passed away Dec. 31 at his residence. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, worked at the shirt factory, Co-op and Convenience Center and attended the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents James Monroe and Ethel Mai Foster Pedigo and 10 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years Janie Pitman Pedigo of Sparta; a sister Eva Cubbins of Smithville; brother Alfred Pedigo of Smithville; three nieces and three nephews J.D. (Ethelene) Pedigo; Kenny (Katrina) Cubbins, Marty Cubbins, Michelle (Roger) Curtis, Teresa Rigsby, Joan (Glen) Campbell; two brothers-in-law Royce (Dottie) Pitman, Dewey (Linda) Pitman, both of Sparta; two sisters-in-law Barbara (Tim) Jones of Sparta, Kathy (Joe) Korn of Florida; special friends Roger and Carolyn Walls, Wesley and Tyler.
Pallbearers included Kenny Cubbins, Wesley Walls, Tyler Walls, Royce Pitman, Tim Jones, Dewey Pitman.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville,  was in charge of the arrangements.
