Funeral services for James Alton Hayes, 69, of Smithville were held Jan. 17 at Smithville First Assembly of God. Bros. Larry Briggs and Donnie Kelly officiated with burial following at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hayes passed away Jan. 14 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. He was disabled and a member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father Alton Hayes; mother Evelyn Carter Waggoner; and step-father George Waggoner.
Survivors include his wife Amy Keith Hayes of Smithville; three children Jayme Linn Hayes of Smithville, Brently James Hayes and Amanda Hayes Stallcup, both of McMinnville; two step-children Brittney and Christian Cantrell of Smithville; grandchildren Samantha, Ashley, Leah, Toby, Kayla, Michael, Elizabeth and Eli; a brother Doug Waggoner of Smithville; a nephew Kris Waggoner; and a special friend Caitlyn Anderson.
Pallbearers included Jeff Shelton, Kris Waggoner, Doug Tramel, Jimmy Lewis, Kenny Rhody and Christian Cantrell.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
