Funeral services for James Milton Suffridge, 81, of Smithville were held July 14 at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. David Carden and Bro. Jonathon Willoughby officiated, with burial following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

 

He passed away July 11 at DeKalb Community Hospital.

 

He was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church. He was a Mason since 1960 and a Veteran of the Air Force and retired from Better Built Aluminum.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard Harrison and Isabella Suffridge; two sisters, Lucille Baker and Frances Percival; four brothers, Bill, Carl, Tracy and Rosco Suffridge.

 

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mildred Hendrix Suffridge of Smithville; three daughters, Jimmie (Mike) Webb of McMinnville, Teresa Powell of Florida and Tyroma (David) Rigsby of Lebanon; eight grandchildren, Dara (Kenny) Webb Johnson of McMinnville, Jashon (Alissa) Mills of Texas, Felicia (Brian) Epps of Florida and Hayden, Bella, Eden, Karsen and Farrah Rigsby of Lebanon; four great-granchildren and one great-great grandchild; one sister, Freda (Dr. Miles) Donaldson of Indiana; sister-in-law, Lois Suffridge of Hendersonville; brother-in-law, William Pervical of Tazewell.

 

Pallbearers included; Harold Dawes, Clarence Neely, Jack Barnes, Hayden Rigsby, Doyle Hendrix and Dennis Roland.

 

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements
