James Reuben Hale, 85, of McMinnville died Saturday, Aug. 4 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville.
He was born Sept. 11, 1932, in Smithville, was a retired machinist with Ford Motor Company, a veteran with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, member of Ezel Masonic Lodge No. 381, Order of the Eastern Star Lodge No. 349, and Long Mountain the Baptist Church.
Mr. Hale was preceded in death by parents Skiler and Cora Hathaway Hale; daughter, Frances Hale, son Gary Hale; sister, Willie Pauline Hale, and brothers, Bernice Hale and Wilbert Hale.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Stuart Abramson; grandchildren, Stacey, Shelby, and Ryan Abramson; great-grandchild, Blake Abramson, and very special friend, Janice Johnson. Other family members and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Tim Baker will officiate. Interment will follow at Whorton Springs Cemetery in Smithville. Military grave rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 173 and V.F.W. Post 5064. A masonic service was conducted Tuesday evening at the funeral home by Ezel Masonic Lodge No. 381.
