Ashford

Jerry Douglas Ashford, age 67, of Smithville passed away Saturday May 5, 2018 at St. Thomas West in Nashville. He was born August 4, 1950 to the late John and Maggie Johnson Ashford.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Ashford, Owen Ashford, and Wayne Ashford.

Mr. Ashford worked at Genesco, Texas Boot and was a farmer and affiliated with the Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dianne Ashford of Smithville; two children, Jeff (Melodie) Ashford of McMinnville, and Debbie (Mark) Delaney of Alabama; four grandchildren, Dalton Ashford, Bailey Ashford, Addison Delaney, and Patience Delaney;  two sisters, Mildred Murphy of Smithville and Freda (Burnell) Maxwell of Grundy County. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services was held Monday May 7, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Lenoard Herman and Jonathan Puckett officiating and burial following in DeKalb Cemetery.

Pallbearers included Paul Mullican, Brad Spivey, Eddie Ashford, Steve Green, Corey Crabtree and Dennis Leisure.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of arrangements.
