Jewel Dovie Martin, 75, of McMinnville and a DeKalb County native, died August. 3, 2018 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville following an extended illness.
He was retired from the engineering department at DeZurik. He was a kind, loving, gentle and Christian man. He enjoyed his family, nature and traveling.
He was preceded in death by father, James Martin; mother and step-father, Dorothy Taylor Luna and Homer Luna; and mother-in-law, Maureen Sellars.
He was married to Phyllis Jones Martin of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Steve Martin and wife Tammy of Woodbury and Sherry McGlothin of McMinnville; two sisters and brother-in-law, Joann Thompson of Smithville and Teresa and Paul Stringer of Livingston; two grandchildren and spouses, Seth and Kaci Jones and Haley and Tyson Norris; two step-grandchildren, Chantell Neal and Callie Underwood; five great-grandchildren, Brentley, Easton, River, Tucker and Stella; special aunt, Goldie Pollard of Smithville; step-children of 34 years, Lori Young of McMinnville and Dana Woodside and husband Jeremy of Murfreesboro and their grandchildren, Jaxson Remple and Cannon Woodside; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Joan Chandler of McMinnville.
Funeral service was held Sunday, Aug. 5 in High’s Chapel with Paul Stringer and Frank Randolph officiating. Burial followed in Jefferson Cemetery in DeKalb County.
High Funeral Home of McMinnville was in charge of arrangements.
