Jewell White Tate, age 86 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital.  She was a member of Smithville First Baptist Church, a former employee at Westinghouse in Smithville and former cafeteria worker at Battleground Academy.

Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Elsie Bennett White; her husband, Howard Tate; a sister, Lavelle Anderson and a brother, T. J. White. 

Survivors include her daughter, Carol and Gary Buckles of Franklin; granddaughter, Lexi Cothran of Franklin; and grandson, Kace Buckles; and two sisters, Jo Dean Redmon and Billie Joyce Webster of Smithville.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service was held Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.  Bro. Chad Ramsey and Bro. Bill Palmiter officiated with burial following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. 

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
