Jimmy Edwin Stringer, age 87, of Smithville passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. 

He was a retired factory worker, farmer and a member of Mt. Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church. 

He was born August 17, 1937, to his parents, the late James Walter and Alta Kathleen McCaleb Stringer. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Stringer; brothers, Billy (Opal) Stringer and Lillard (Margie) Stringer; sister, Janice Maddux.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bud Henry and Earl Maddux officiating. Burial followed in the West Cemetery in Cookeville.

Survivors include his wife Linda Stringer of Smithville; children, Shirley Ours of Smithville, Paul (Teresa) Stringer of Livingston, Ronald (Melissa) Stringer of Smithville, bonus daughter, Jenean (Buck) Lawson of Smithville; grandchildren, Amanda (Luke) Randolph, Jason (Melissa) Ours, Alan (Lisa) Stringer, Kristin (Ryan) Jacobi, Benjamin (Kara) Stringer, Hannah Stringer, Elicia (Johnathon) Puckett, Andrea (Jacob) Puckett, Nathan (Jasmine) Stringer, Lindsey (Chris) Bell, Amanda (Mitch) Herrin, Josh (Ashley) Lawson, Dakota Hale; 35 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Earl Maddux. 

Pallbearers included Nathan Stringer, Johnathon Puckett, Jacob Puckett, Jason Ours, Dakota Hale

and Hayden Lytle.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
