Funeral services for John Earl Phillips, 89, of Woodbury, were held Nov.18 at the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Bro. Herb Alsup officiated with burial following at Prater Cemetery.
Mr. Phillips passed away on Nov. 13 at Alvin C. York Medical Center following a extended illness. He was a native of Cannon County.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, a sawmill foreman and a veteran of WWII.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Everette Phillips and Meadie Elkins Phillips; his wife, Maynie Phillips; his son, Alan Phillips; grandson, J.R. Phillips and great granddaughter, Lindsey Hortert.
He is survived by his son, Rannie Earl (Debbie) Phillips of Woodbury; grandchildren, Lora (Tony) Hortert, Neal (Erin) Phillips, Jarrod Phillips, Jessica (Kyle) Casper, Shana Phillips, Allie Wilson, Ashley (Mitchell) Skelton; great grandchildren, John Christian, Garrett and Rachel Hortert, Max Skelton and Noah Casper; sister, Adean (Glen) Coppinger of Woodbury; sister-in-law, Beverly Phillips of Woodbury; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Woodbury Funeral Home, Woodbury, was in charge of arrangements.
