Lorene "Big Mama" Jenkins, aged 90, of Smithville passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at her residence.

Born on June 8, 1934, in Smithville, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ben and Louise Young Cantrell. Lorene was a member of Mt. View The Baptist Church of Christ and worked as a clerk at Sonny's Bait and Tackle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Turner; her second husband, David Jenkins; her grandson, Adam Turner; and her brothers, Ben Cantrell, Jr. and B.L. Cantrell.

She is survived by her loving children, Sheryl (David) Cripps of Smithville, Roger (Jan) Turner of McMinnville, and Sharon Cox. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Chala (Caleb) McDonald, Corey Cripps, David Turner, Josh Turner, and Franklin Cox, as well as her great-grandchildren, Blakelyn Cripps, Briley Cripps, Bradley, Hunter, Sarah, McKaylin, Weston, Alexis, Makayla, Sydney, Bently, Brooklyn, Jacklyn, Lila Bess, and Livia; great-great grandchildren, Elise, Keson, and Elyie. Lorene is also survived by her brother, CY Cantrell, and sister, Wilma Young.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, Oct. 23 in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial followed at Whorton Springs Cemetery with Bro. Darrell Gill officiating.

Pallbearers included Corey Cripps, David Turner, Franklin Cox, Josh Turner, Caleb McDonald and David Cripps.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
