Mainelle Mathis Derting, age 92, of Liberty passed away Thursday morning, November 28, 2024 at her son's home. 

Mainelle was a retired factory worker and a member of the Cave Springs Missionary Baptist Church. 

She was born January 18, 1932 to her parents, the late Lee and Callie Chumbley Mathis. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Davenport and a nephew, Larry Davenport. 

She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Marie) Derting of Liberty; granddaughter, Tabitha Derting of Liberty; great-grandson, David Hutchins of Liberty; two nephews, Mickey (Jennifer) Davenport of Liberty and Hugh (Terri) Davenport of Smithville; niece, Leigh Ann McGill of Knoxville. 

Funeral service was held Sunday, December 1, 2024 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and burial followed in Salem Cemetery. 

The family ask that donations be made to either Cave Springs Missionary Baptist Church or to Caris Hospice, in memory of Mainelle. 

Pallbearers included Brian Davenport, Timothy Davenport, Chris Davenport, J.R. Spain, Matt Davenport and Benjie Davenport.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
