Funeral services for Mattie Joe McGinnis, 94, of Smithville were held Jan. 26 at Chapel of Love-Cantrell  Funeral Home. Bro. Mark Bass officiated, with burial following at  Whorton Springs Cemetery.
She passed away Jan. 25 at Clinton, Tennessee.
She was retired from the DeKalb County Board of Education.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Vadie Hayes Hendrixson; her husband, Tom Rye McGinnis.
She is survived by two daughters, Elena (James )Huddleston of Oak Ridge, Tommie Farooque of Murfreesboro; four grandchildren, Melanie (Greg) Addington of Oak Ridge, Joel Huddleston of Florida, Derek (Amanda) Adamson of Knoxville, Malea (Eric) Thompson; one great grandson, Isaac Thompson all of Thompson Station; two sisters, Georgia (Tom) Cripps of Alexandria and Brownie Curtis of Smithville; brother-in-law, Paul (Henrieta) McGinniss of Nashville.
Pallbearers included; James Huddleston, Greg Addington, Nathan Johnson, Ben Johnson , and Eric Thompson.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of arrangements.
