Graveside  services  for Ms. Mildred Lassiter, 92, of Oak Ridge and former of Cookeville will be held May 7 at Bethel Cemetery in DeKalb County. Buddy Johnson will be officiating.
Mrs. Lassiter passed away May 3 in the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
She was born July 15, 1921 in DeKalb County to the late William Edgar and Bertha Pugh Lassiter.
Mildred attended Freed Hardeman University and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University.
In the early days of the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, she was employed in tennessee eastman’s Payroll Department at the Y-12 Plant before moving to the K-25 Plant operated by Union Carbide where she worked as a Laboratory analyst.
Later she was a claims representative fro the Social Security Administration in the Cookeville area after having served in the Panama City and Nashville areas. For more than 50 years she was an active member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Elmer Lassiter; sisters, Elsie Slatton, and Clara Fox.
Survivors include her sister, Ruth Lassiter of Oak Ridge; nieces, Betty Boyd, Beverly Hutchins, and Teresa Simmons; as well as several grand- nieces and grand-nephews.
Hooper-Huddleston, Cookeville, was in charge of arrangements.
