Mildred Lee Murphy, 86, of Smithville passed away Monday morning October 16, 2023, at NHC of Smithville.

Ms. Murphy was a member of Faith Congregational Methodist Church and a retired garment factory worker

She was born May 22, 1937, to her parents, the late John and Maggie Johnson Ashford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, L.C. Murphy; daughter, Linda Self; sister, Freda Maxwell; brothers, Jerry, Owen, Wayne and James (Edna) Ashford; son-in-law, Tony DeVault.

She is survived by two daughters, Vicky (Jay) Ramsey of Smithville and Teesha (Keith) Reynolds of Smithville; son, Sherman (Selby) Murphy of Florida; grandchildren, Joey (Brittany) Murphy of Fairview, Sheri Murphy of Smithville, Taylor Gibbs, Alexis Reynolds, Jada Murphy, Arian Murphy, Nyla Murphy, Azlan Murphy, Jack Mullican and Jay Lee Mullican; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Kaden, Jacob, Ella, Bailey, Kaylee, Khloe, Hunter, Haylee, Isaac; two great-great-grandchildren, Everleigh, and Amelia; sisters-in-law, Diane Ashford of Smithville, Annie Ashford of Watertown.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial followed in Hale Cemetery at Pea Ridge.

Pallbearers included Keith Reynolds, Joey Murphy, Kaden Murphy, Marcus Caldwell, Jacob Chumbley, and Brad Spivey.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of arrangements.
