Funeral services for Joe Dean Johnson Moore, 84, of Smithville were held Sept. 3 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Don Frensley officiated, with burial following at Whorton Springs Cemetery.
Joe Dean went to be with the Lord on Aug. 31.
Mrs. Moore was born in Smithville and was a lifetime resident of DeKalb County.
She was the daughter of the late Henry and Opha Redmon Johnson.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Allen Moore; brother, Willie Johnson; sister, Doris Adams.
Mrs. Moore was a member of the Brethren in Christ Church. She loved cross stitching, sewing, quilting, fishing and traveling.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her five loving children, Wanda (Buddy) Wiggs, Robert (Helen) Moore, Ellen (Bucky) Southard, Brenda (E.J.) Bain, Tammy (Mike Owen) Moore. Her beloved grandchildren are Shannon (Ashley) Lepley, Brian Southard, Clayton Moore, Brandon (Shayna) Taylor, Bradley Taylor, and granddaughter, Makayla Bain.
In the last few years, her great grandchildren were the light of her life. She adored them and they adored her. Her great grandchildren are; Caleb, Caley, and Madison Taylor, Cameron and Ashton Lepley, Preston and Hunter Moore, Skyler (Little William) and Christopher Southard and Braxton Taylor; step- great grandchildren, Ryan Lincoln, Kobe Curtis and Maegan Madden; brother Jewel (Helen) Johnson, half- brother, Willie Johnson; half- sisters, Hattie Dickens, Betty Bell, and Ann Bickford. Her special helper Kari Taylor.
Her family was blessed and raised by a Godly mother. She was such a loving and caring person to her family and everyone she met. We will miss her dearly.
We would like to thank everyone for their help in caring for Mama. Especially our sister, Ellen. She stayed with Mama day and night for over two years.
Pallbearers included; Jeff Williams, Michael Williams, Steve Walker, Jacob Bowen, Terry Johnson, and Leonard Prater.
Honorary Pallbearers included; Caleb Taylor, Cameron and Ashley Lepley, Preston and Hunter Moore, Skylar "Little William" and Christopher Southard, Braxton Taylor, Ryan Lincoln, Kobe Curtis, and Jacob Williams.
