Funeral services for Ralph Lee Griffith, 90, of Liberty, will be held March 7 at at 3 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Wade and Bro. Thurman Seber officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery.
Mr. Griffith passed away March 5 at hospice in Nashville. He was born on Sept. 29, 1921 in DeKalb County to the late Dawson Reed and Fannie Groom Griffith. He was a farmer and was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
He was known to some as Santa Claus and others as the Pumpkin Man and to others as their school bus driver.
Survivors include his daughter, LeAnn Vandergriff of Liberty; sons, Wayne Griffith and Ken (Jeanie) Griffith, all of Liberty; grandchildren, Kristin (Jeremy) Hutchings, Brittany Vandergriff, Jonathan (Carrie) Griffith, Laura (Phillip) Metcalf, Brent (Cheri) Griffith and Holly (Johnny) McCrary; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Paul (Mary Etta) Griffith of Warren, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sally Corley Griffith.
Pallbearers included Doyle Evans, Donnie Davis, Eugene Waggoner, Jamie Hale, Phil Robinson and Kenneth Ray Mullinax.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Robert Robinson, Joe Foutch, Hoyte Garrison, Ed Hale and Truitt Robinson.
Anderson Funeral Home, Alexandria, was in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Salem Cemetery fund.
