Rev. Royce Jackson Moore, age 92, of Smithville, went to his Heavenly reward on Saturday afternoon, November 4, 2023.
He was a longtime member of the New West Point Freewill Baptist Church where he served as Pastor 45 years. He had the Way of Life radio ministry for 28 years
He was born May 23, 1931 to his parents, the late Rev. Thomas Walker and Lillie Mae Waggoner Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Jewel Moore and Reba Page; three brothers, Earnest Moore, Rev. David Moore and Thomas Walker Moore, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby Trobaugh Moore of Smithville; three children, Eddie (Anita) Moore, Ellen (Jeff) Herrin and Dwight (Angie) Moore all of Smithville; six grandchildren, Adam (Bethany) Moore, Andrew (Rachel) Moore, Mitchell (Amanda) Herrin, Carrie (Caleb) Baines, Jacob (Megan) Moore, Caleb (Emily) Moore; 10 great-grandchildren, Ariana Herrin, Maggie, Millie, Franklin, Elizabeth, Eleanor and Rubie Moore, Carson and Charlotte Moore, Ira Baines and baby boy Walker Moore due in February; 1 brother, Rev. Jerry (Donna) Moore and two sisters, Nina Hart and Stacy Foster and many additional nieces and nephews.
Funeral services was held Monday, November 6, 2023 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Ethan Baker and Dow Allen and his grandson, Andrew Moore, officiating and burial with Military Honors will be at DeKalb Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Adam Moore, Andrew Moore, Mitchell Herrin, Caleb Baines, Jacob Moore, and Caleb Moore.
The family requests donations be made to New West Point Freewill Baptist Church, in memory of Bro. Royce. Those donations may be made by calling or coming by the funeral home or mail to 2293 Midway Road, Smithville.
Honorary Pallbearers included Donald Wayne Page, Roy Gene Page, Gary Caplinger, and Ministers of the Stone Association of the Freewill Baptist Church
