Ricky Wayne Hayes, age 67, of Smithville passed away Monday night August 16, 2021 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

He was born November 29, 1953 to his parents, James Hayes and the late Mary Hayes.

He was a member of Whorton Springs Baptist Church and retired from Timers after 37 years and after retiring he worked for Averitt for a few years.

He is survived by his father, James Hayes of Smithville; sister, Vicky (Joe) Bogle of Smithville; nephew, Tony (Amanda) Trapp of Smithville; niece, Michelle (Paul) Cantrell of Smithville; special great nieces and nephews, Brittany Wilkerson, Gage Trapp, Kylee Cantrell, Holden Trapp, Bryson Trapp; several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

Funeral service was held Friday, August 20, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. David Mahan officiating. Burial followed in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers included Gage Trapp, Holden Trapp, Bryson Trapp, Danny Poss, Mark Hayes, John Grubbs, John Warren, and Eddie Braswell.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
