Ronald Jay Carter, age 69, of Smithville passed away Wednesday December 25, 2024, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. 

He was born September 21, 1955, to his parents, Rubbie Carter and the late R.J. Carter.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by wife Debra Carter. 

He was retired from Carrier Corp. and a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church. 

Funeral service was held Sunday, December 29, 2024 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Steve Keaton officiating and burial followed in the Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. 

Survivors include daughter, Jayme (Nathan) Dowell of Smithville; son, Ronald Joshua Carter of Smithville; grandchildren, Ryan Carter, Ethan Carter, Izayah Dowell, Kylynn Dowell; mother, Rubbie Carter of Smithville; sister, Lynn (Larry) Eaton of Smithville; nephew, Hugh (Chassity) Eaton of Smithville; and great niece, Allie Eaton. 

Pallbearers included Hugh Eaton, David Clary, Chris Martin, Laradon Wiggins, Austin Cantrell, James Caldwell, Avery Caldwell, and Justin McClain.
