Funeral services for Virginia Ruth O’Neal Phillips, 84, of Auburntown, were held Dec. 4 at Auburn Baptist Church. Bro. Jerry Osborne officiated with burial following in Odom Cemetery.
Mrs. Phillips passed away Dec. 2 at University Medical Center, Lebanon. She was born on Nov. 4, 1927 in Wilson County to the late Theodore Roosevelt Armstrong and Elizabeth Jennings Armstrong. She was a graduate of Watertown High School, was retired from Auburntown Bank and attended Auburn Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, J.T. O’Neal, and Magnus Phillips, and her parents.
Survivors include her son, Lynn (Cathy) O’Neal, of Auburntown; daughter, Darnelle (Jim) Brown, of Liberty; grandchildren, Tracy (Ravi) Goins, of Auburntown, Emily (Chris) Crook, of Liberty, Jason (Jennifer) Brown, of Auburntown, Jeanna (Tracy) Caplinger, of Auburntown; great-grandchildren, Emma Claire and Caitlyn Crook, Carly and Ben Brown, Kayna and Kayley Caplinger, Lauryn and Colin Crawley and Dustin Mears; sister, Dorothy (Van) Jennings, of Statesville; and a niece, Diane (Floyd) Gaddes, of Statesville.
Hunter Funeral Home, Watertown, was in charge of the arrangements.
