Sharon Dawn Hancock, age 63, of Smithville passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at her residence.
Sharon dedicated her career to the State of Tennessee, most recently working in the Department of Corrections, and was a passionate volunteer at the Nashville Zoo.
Born on November 26, 1961 in Murfreesboro, she was the beloved daughter of Dan and Norma Hancock.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Sharon Hancock, and her sister, DeLynne Burgess. Sharon is survived by her father, Dan Hancock of Smithville; her brothers, Jeff Hancock of Dover and Wade (Mary Helen) Hancock of Smithville; her niece, Emma Hancock; her nephew, Grady Hancock; and her brother-in-law, Tim Burgess of Hendersonville.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Prosperity Cemetery with David Dunn officiating.
Pallbearers included Mackie Harney, Bobby Howard, Terry Martin, Mike Braswell, Mark Brown, Ricky Knight, Larry Redmon and Mike Conley.
In addition to flowers to honor Sharon, the family requests donations be made to the Nashville Zoo in her memory.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
