Vicky Lynn Terrell passed from this life and met her Savior face-to-face on November 1, 2024, at the age of 71.
Vicky was an amazingly selfless woman of faith who sought to glorify God and love others well in all that she did. Her elegance was unmatched, her laughter was contagious, and her open arms left no one out. The Lord changed her life at the age of nine, and she faithfully served as an active member of Smithville First Baptist Church for the last four decades in various roles, most recently as the Nursery Chair and as a member of the Friendship Committee.
Affectionately called “Nanny” by her grandchildren, Vicky greatly loved her family and thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with them, cooking for them, and traveling with them. She joyfully celebrated every single big and small accomplishment, and her beautiful handwriting encouraged and congratulated countless people over the years. She was a close friend to many, a beloved teacher of 20 years, and a generous giver to many in need.
Vicky was born on July 24, 1953, to the late John Lawson Pirtle, Jr. and the late Frankie Gilreath Pirtle in Smithville, TN. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents John Lawson Pirtle and Minnie Holt Pirtle of Smithville, TN; her maternal grandparents Alvie Gilreath and Nancy Pack Gilreath of Smithville, TN; and her sister Phyllis Josleyn (Steve) of Old Hickory, TN.
Vicky is survived by her husband of 49 years, David R. Terrell of Smithville, TN; sons Dr. Justin Terrell (Emily) of Dandridge, TN, and Roth Terrell (Jessica) of Smithville, TN; grandchildren Sadie Lynn and Jaden Laurie Terrell of Dandridge, TN, and William Roth and Amelia Grace Terrell of Smithville, TN; sister Carol Hendrix (Tucker) of Smithville, TN; brother Stephen Pirtle (Darlene) of Old Hickory, TN; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews: Melissa Delaney (Jay), Rhonda Oram (Doug), Ashley French (Dr. Todd), Dr. John Delaney (Dr. Melissa), Kelsey Delaney (Aaron), Brandon Pirtle, Edison French, Stowe French, and Anna French.
Funeral service was held on Monday, November 4, 2024 in the chapel at Smithville First Baptist Church. Rev. Bill Robertson, Roth Terrell, Dr. Chad Ramsey, and Dr. Justin Terrell shared memories of Vicky’s life. Burial followed in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
