Virginia Ruth (Chaffin) Reed, 91, of Smithville passed from this life on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at NHC Healthcare of Smithville.

Virginia was born Sunday, June 8, 1930, in Cookeville, and she was the daughter of the late Claude Spencer Chaffin and Byrda Lou (Mills) Chaffin. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by husband, Cecil Douglas Reed; and two siblings Jerry Chaffin and Shirley Goodwin.

Virginia was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, granny, aunt, and friend.  

She is survived by three dauthers, Donna Ruth (Reed) Stephenson (Howard), Doris Cantrell (Late Bill Cantrell), and Denise Rose (Reed) Gribble (James); 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sister, Nell Thomas (Glenn); Brother, Ralph Chaffin (Mary John); special friend, Beverly Crips. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends also survive.

Funeral service was held Friday, March 25, 2022, from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home.  Interment followed in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

Crest Lawn Funeral Home, Cookeville, was in charge of the arrangements.
