Wallace Leon Johnson, age 82, of Liberty passed away Friday night August 9, 2024, at NHC Healthcare in Smithville.

He was born August 4, 1942, to his parents the late Charles Franklin and Nonnie Bell Mathis Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Bryan Johnson and brother, Billy Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was a member of Cave Springs Missionary Baptist Church and was a construction worker. 

He is survived by wife, Joyce Johnson of Liberty; children, David (Emily) Johnson of Murfreesboro, Kim (Michael) Riley of Sparta, Rhonda (Charlie) Caplinger of Smithville, Sissy Johnson Cooper of Smithville and Mandi Parker of McMinnville; 12 grandchildren, Dustin, Hayden, Holly, Kady, Nikki, Matthew, Jonathan, Michael, Jennifer, Colby, Braxton and Bryan; 21 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Judy Johnson of Liberty.

Funeral service was held Monday, August 12, 2024, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Elder Steven Brooks and Bro. Micheal Hale officiating and burial followed in Salem Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Russell Estes, Todd Dodd, Ronnie Garrison, Jimmy Poss, Chad Mathis, and John Poss.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
