Funeral services for William “Bill” Wiley Merriman, 78, of Smithville, were held Sept. 27 at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Dillard Johnson and Bro. Donnie Kelly officiated, with burial following in Banks Cemetery.   
Mr. Merriman passed away Sept. 24 at NHC Smithvillle. He was a retired farmer and was affiliated with Freewill Baptist Church.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Annie Underhill Merriman; wife, Johnnie Mary Colwell Merriman; six brothers, Lillard, Hervie, J.E., Tom, Oliver and Jack Merriman; five sisters, Lillie and Gracie Murphy, Louise and Lee Bratcher and Parlie Merriman.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Hugh Willingham; two sons, Mitchell Merriman and Steve and his wife, Judy Merriman; seven grandchildren, Martin and Delia Willingham, Brittany, Adrainana, Dallas, Jake, Joyce and Steve Merriman; three great-grandchildren, Hailee, Austin and Annabelle Merriman; and a brother, Joe Merriman, all of Smithville.
Pallbearers included Marty, Glynn, Roy, Ronald, Jeff, Ricky, Eddie and Mike Merriman, Doyle, David, John and Avery Bratcher.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
