We hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine’s Day. Remember to share a smile and love with those passing along your way today. Let us love one another and remember those that need love. Dry Creek Baptist Church is expecting a wonderful night with David Turner and a few of his friends for a special night down at the church. Everyone’s welcome!
This week has been an eventful week. Lisa Cripps, DeKalb Prevention Coalition Coordinator, and Kristie Paling, DPC Treasurer, traveled to Washington DC to attend the DeKalb County Coalition’s CADCA, Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America, 2018 Graduation at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.
Tennessee had the greatest number graduating out of the 133 coalitions to achieve this honor. General Authur T. Dean CEO of CADCA welcomed the graduates and Sean Fearns, Chief DEA Community and Public Affairs Drug Enforcement Administrator was the keynote speaker. It was reported to be an exceptional event.
On Wednesday of last week the new graduates along with CADCA members attended a Day on the Hill at the Capitol. There the group attended a Congressional rally and later met with several senators concerning the drug issues in our communities. Lisa attended the Larmar Alexander and Bob Corker meetings in their Dirksen offices. Coalitions are working to connect community partners for the purpose of educating, implementing strategies, and training a broad and diverse group within their community on substance prevention. There is power in communities that work together for change. Please get involved.
We know many people struggle with addiction, marriage, health, and financial issues. Remember when we can’t see if the light at the end of the tunnel is the train or a beacon to guide us, God is always in control. TRUST and lean not on your own understanding. Continue to pray for healing for our dear son-in-law Jimmy Kimbrell. He needs a healing touch from God. Pray for Joel Dawes in the loss of her husband and friend, Harold. Pray for Alicia and Robbie Maxwell as they start their new journey as parents to a precious baby girl, Brooklynn Kate. Pray for those that lead our schools, government, and churches.
There is power in the name of Jesus.
For with God nothing shall be impossible. Luke 1:37 (KJV)
