Bulldogs Fall in Second Round

The DeKalb West School Bulldogs ended their season last week after falling in the second round of the James C. Haile Basketball Tournament hosted by Middle Tennessee Christian School in Murfreesboro.

The Bulldogs had advanced through the first round with a 42-16 win over Hilham. On Monday, January 20, the team faced off against Lobelville in the second round.

In that game, DWS scored 14 points in the first period, with Levi Cripps sinking a three-point basket and three two-pointers, while Maddux Pyburn added a three-point shot of his own. Landon Holmes came away with a two-point shot. The Lobelville Hornets were held to 11 points.

The Bulldogs put eight on the board in the second period, with Cripps hitting a two and three-pointer, while Holmes sank a three-point shot. The Hornets added 11, tying the game at 22 at halftime.

DWS was held to four in the third period, with Cripps and Holmes each hitting a two-pointer. The Hornets pulled away with 12 points and the 35-26 lead.

Holmes sank a three-point basket for the Bulldogs in the fourth, while Edgar Garza added a two-pointer. The Hornets would end the game with 10 more points and the 45-31 win.
