The DeKalb West School Bulldogs baseball team opened up their season last week with a big win over Tuckers Crossroads. It was a big win after a year of being sidelined due to Covid-19.
On Friday, March 5, the Bulldogs were at home for their season opener. The cold and cloudy weather made fans bundle up as if it were a football game rather than the beginning of baseball, but the batting for the bulldogs warmed things up.
The Bulldogs took a 16-0 shutout over Tuckers Crossroads, with Devin Fish and Ty Webb coming away with three runs each, while Tucker Webb, Dallas Kirby, Luke Midgett, Luke Johnson, Ben Driver, Andrew Dakas, Wesley Kent, and Jordan Parker each had one.
Logan Duke, Tucker Webb, Jackson, and Parker each had base hits, while Parker had two RBIs, and Kirby, Jackson, Driver, Hendrix, Kent, and Kirksey each had one RBI.
Tyler Jackson was the winning pitcher, pitching four innings, striking out nine with two hits and one walk. Jon Hendrix came in as relief, pitching one inning and striking out three.
